    My car

I own a Renault Megane hatchback 1.5 cdi 100 bhp expresion for 3 years. The car was very reliable no problems. I am proud with this car its good value for money. High build quality and luxury compared with a Toyota Auris.

The Auris feels cheeply made next to the Megane. The 1.5cdi engine is very economical, and runs smoothly and have strong pull and performance. The Ride is soft although its firmer than the Megane 1, but its very comfortable and stable.

Road holding is good and there is plenty of grip but the steering lacks feel and need a firm hand sometimes, but at least its safe. Noise Levels are low but with bigger wheels from 16" and 205/55 tyres they suffer over potholes and bumps, and there are noises from the wheels, but all in all the ride is smooth and the car feels very solid .

Safety is excellent and the body is strong. Space is not very good, in the front its fine but in the rear legroom is poor.

What I do not like in the Megane is the factory Radio cd sound quality is not very good, noise levels from the 16"wheels,rear space, steering.

Things I like: comfortable ride, build quality, styling, performance, gadgets.

    My car

Had the car from new, it's nearly 3 years old now, so I will be changing it before the warranty expires. All in all it's been a pretty reliable motor. The needle coils have failed on 2 occasions, a well documented problem with meganes, on the second occasion, the AA man fixed it in about 2 minutes. The car now refuses to start when you press the clutch in, so I have to use the brake pedal to start it. The engine is a little underpowered for the weight of the car, but handling and comfort are fine. I think it's still one of the best looking and safest small hatchbacks on the road, but maybe getting a little long in the tooth now.

    My car

I am on my second 1.6 VVT Dynamique and I think that speaks for itself really. My last was an 03 plate and I did have a few problems all of which were under warranty and the AA membership came in handy. I had to replace head lamps and was told I'd have to take in to a garage, instead of taking it to Renault I took it to a local garage who didn't charge me but the mechanic did tell me that Renault would have charged me for an hours labour even though it only took ten minutes. I then went and bought a 56 plate and 1 1/2 years later I haven't had any problems (currently touching wood). It is comfortable for long drives although it can get a little noisy and always think the revs are a bit high. I can't complain about the fuel consumption as it has never gone below 41mpg and have had it up as high as 55mpg. Overall I think it's a great car and well worth the money.

    My car

I like the car but…., the electric window switches for the driver are placed in the wrong area. My headlights went (both of them) I tried to change them for 1.5hrs and gave up. Dealer said it’s a garage job! Before I purchased this car, I asked about things I may need to know and was not told about this headlight problem. I would not have bought it should I have known. Changing light bulbs should be as easy as pumping tyres up (a very poor design indeed). The police due to this did stop me, this caused more problems. I say avoid cars that build “dealer only” remedial repairs, it’s not impressive and a business can’t be in business if it annoys its customers, they walk. Cost of replacement headlights £95! A good set should of cost £20 and taken 10 min’s to fit. The garage had to dissemble the cars front bumper and with the garage equipment took 3hrs! This company should pull their socks up. I would have bought an Audi if I had known. If these bulbs fail 10x that’s nearly 1k on after sales. Also the dash lights fail, I have to restart the car once or twice for them to come back on. This car is the refined 06 plate (with all these problems ironed out, think they forgot to plug the iron in).
