I have had two V70s and would buy another when this one is due for replacement. Build quality is superb and there have been no reliability issues. The local dealer has been excellent and servicing costs are reasonable for this class of car. My only niggles are the poor turning circle and low-profile tyres that "tramline" and also leave the alloys susceptible to being scraped when parking close to a kerb.
I am on my fourth Volvo V70 estate. They may look boring (as I am told by my teenagers) but they drive like a dream. The fuel economy with the diesel is absolutely brilliant and the space in the car is wow.
My inlaws think they are sat on a luxury settee when they are in the back.
So all I can say I give it 10 out of 10 and would not think of any other car. They just have a bad image of being window cleaners cars but who cares. I feel safe in the V70.
This car is without a doubt the best car I have ever owned. The engine and gearbox (Geartronic) are fantastic. Smooth and responsive. Powerful engine certainly help making overtaking a breeze.
Running costs in terms of fuel consumption is for the size and power of engine very good. About the same as previous car I had (S80 2.4 SE auto) returning some good 32mpg overall.
I would not hesitate in buying another one!
I have had three Volvos and the V70 D5 SE will be the last. I've had constant problems, with poor dealership back up that is very expensive.
If you own a barge - for your sanity and wallet - don't even touch with its pole!
I've found Volvo customer service to be arrogant and unhelpful.
