I have owned several different cars including 5-series BMWs. I can safely say that this Volvo V70 is the best car that I have ever owned. The drive is fantastic, it is very comfy and hugely practical. Great car.
It's a bad car.
These cars are used at my work along with BMW 5-series and Merc C-classes. I think the Volvo is by far the worst out of the three. I find its fuel economy is terrible and the turning circle is even worse.
Its build quality is not much better. Reliablity has also been a problem - particularly with the auto boxes, which have given problems since new.
I purchased my V70 D5 SE AUTO 2 years ago and have now done 70,000 miles. Good features are the excellent seats, air-con, sat-nav/tv and a very good cabin layout. Long-distance motorway driving is a pleasure. Sadly the car is not without its problems. The turning circle is a joke and the rear legroom is only for children. Although build quality is generally good, the body panels tend to dent with only slight pressure. Hoses blow on a regular basis leading to loss of power and clouds of black smoke being given off. My cylinder head was leaking oil badly at 30,000 miles and a major stripdown meant it was off the road for a month. Nevertheless, when I replace my V70 later this year it will be for another one. That is unless the Audi A6 estate proves to be better than the old one.
