The Honda CR-V has sharp driving dynamics and an extensive standard equipment list, and in PHEV form is an excellent company car choice. That said, it falls short of claiming the top spot in the family SUV class due to high noise levels on a motorway, a somewhat basic interior for the price and limited rear headroom. For private buyers, the entry-level e:HEV Elegance makes most sense.

Despite being the entry-level trim, Elegance comes with loads of standard equipment. In fact, the kit list includes luxuries you probably wouldn’t expect, including front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, heated front seats, electrically adjustable front seats, wireless phone-charging and a heated steering wheel.

With a total of 181bhp and instant shove off the line, thanks to its electric motor, you’ll never find yourself struggling for pace when you’re at the wheel of the CR-V. Better still, it’s efficient and manages almost 43mpg.
