It looks different to any previous Smart, but the #1 is a brilliant electric car that's nippy, smart inside, surprisingly practical and can charge more quickly than many rivals. Unless you need a big boot, it's a great buy. We reckon it's worth upgrading to the Premium trim because it adds a heat pump and other useful kit.

This limited-run trim is based on Premium trim and adds a bit more style, with its own white and gold paint colour combination combined with chequered patterns on the wheels and roof. The theme continues inside with white leather seats and gold trim finishers.

This entry-level option is no slouch, with an electric motor producing 268bhp. Driving the rear wheels, it can officially do 0-62mph in a zippy 6.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 112mph.
