Alternatives

What alternatives should I consider to a used BMW M5 saloon?

The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG (https://www.whatcar.com/mercedes-benz/e-class/saloon/used-review/n17390) is a bit of a hoot. It can play the relaxed cruiser but like the M5 you can take it by the scruff of the neck and hurl it round a track all day, should the mood take you. The interior’s classy and used prices are tempting.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (https://www.whatcar.com/alfa-romeo/giulia/saloon/used-review/n18031) is a newer car than this generation of M5, but in terms of performance and handling it’s remarkably similar. It’s tremendously fast both in a straight line and round a corner, and it’s relatively refined and comfortable. The interior is not as plush as an M5’s, however.
