The MINI Electric can travel up to 145 miles (WLTP) on a full charge. Since the average UK driver does just 21 miles a day, and 145 miles is enough to get you from Heathrow to Bristol, Birmingham to Leeds, Newcastle to Edinburgh, or Manchester to the Lake District, the MINI Electric has enough range for most journeys. When you’re out and about, the MINI Electric can be charged using rapid or ultra-rapid public chargers, topping up the battery from 0-80% in as little as 36 minutes on a 50kW charger. Pricing for the MINI Electric range starts at £27,000. With a choice of three stylish trims, some uniquely exclusive special editions and a wide range of personalised customisation options, there are a wealth of ways to make your MINI Electric feel uniquely you.
How much it costs to charge a MINI Electric depends on where you charge it, and for how long. Charging at home overnight, when electric rates are cheapest, is the most cost-effective way. The rates for using fast, rapid and ultra-rapid public chargers will vary and will typically be a bit more expensive. You can find out more about charging costs here, but MINI reckons that the MINI Electric should cost around 4p per mile to run – roughly 2x to 5x cheaper than cars with a petrol or a diesel engine.
The MINI Electric is eligible for the UK government’s plug-in car grant, which is worth £1,500.
