The Genesis G80 has its strengths – namely safety and interior quality – and is worth looking at as an alternative to the big-selling European luxury cars. Just bear in mind that, objectively at least, the BMW 5 Series is a considerably better all-rounder.

Final specs are yet to be revealed on this trim level.

This 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol is certainly quick. It sends its 300bhp to all four wheels, helping you get you away from the line without drama. You need to rev the engine quite hard to get the best from it, though, and when you do so it sounds a little strained.
