What should I look for in a used Mercedes AMG GT sports?
This is a long, low and, in parts, difficult to see out of car, so do check the front and the rear of the AMG for any obvious signs of bumps and prangs. Bodywork is expensive to repair, remember. It’s worth checking underneath, too, for any signs of off-road action that might have been accrued in an excess of enthusiasm over driver ability. Check the alloy wheels for any signs of kerb damage, too.
These cars will have been used by owners who drive their cars quite hard, so make sure all the paperwork tallies with mileages and service intervals. Only buy with a full service history. Any obvious signs of excess wear, from the alignment of the wheels or bodywork, or excess noise or smoke from the exhaust, should issue you a warning.
So far, reported problems are few, and owners seem happy with their cars. It’s difficult to establish reliability data on a car that sells in small numbers and at a high price, so the AMG GT Roadster didn’t feature in our last reliability survey. Mercedes as a brand finished in a rather disappointing 23rd place out of 32 manufacturers in the survey, though.
