The winners of the 2021 What Car? Car of the Year Awards, in association with ALA Insurance, are being revealed this week, with the 44-year-old event reimagined as an entirely online ceremony as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

To make the 2021 What Car? Awards more useful than ever to Britain’s car buyers, each category will feature not only a winner, but also a series of best buys for individual qualities such as value, comfort and practicality.

The qualities chosen for each category are based on the results of What Car?’s 2020 reader survey, where people were asked what they most valued when choosing their current car.

To be eligible for a What Car? Award, a car has to have been tested back to back with its rivals, both on UK roads and at What Car?’s dedicated test track. Plus, it has to be available to order now.

Winners will be announced from 9.00am Monday to Thursday, with the overall winner being revealed at 3.45pm on Thursday 14 January.
