16 May 2025 – Doblodds and sods

I like to keep my things in an organised manner. In my wardrobe, for example, you’ll find shirts on the left, and trousers on the right. My spice rack? Alphabestised. And my video kit? The unimaginable amounts of gear I require is arranged in a very specific way so that everything is easy for me to find without even having to think.

And that’s why I’m getting on so well with the storage options up front in the Fiat Doblo. Let me run through what’s on offer.

The interior has two cup holders (essential for coffee on-the-go with my early starts, or as a place to hold a spare camera lens).

The door bins, although a touch on the narrow side, are big enough to hold a couple of water bottles.

There’s an overhead storage shelf which has been useful for keeping things like insurance documents and passports out of sight but close to hand, and it’s also a perfect spot to keep the latest edition of What Car? magazine.

There’s another lidded compartment above the steering wheel which I’ve been using as a home for my suncream bottle (something that someone from the Midlands needs nearby even on an overcast day).

My passengers are well catered for, too, with a large glove box which is great for keeping valuables out of sight or for storing their odds and ends.

So, the front space of the Doblo is like a Swiss army knife, offering all manner of diverse storage solutions for all of my organisational needs.

But the main highlight for me up front is in the bench itself. As I’ve previously mentioned, I’ve got no rear seats – this being a panel van – but I’ve got three up front. The central seat can be folded down, which essentially gives me a hotdesk. I often require my laptop for storing footage or editing videos while away from the office on jobs, so having the ability to fold out a mini desk is a gamechanger. It also makes for a handy lunch table too.

For a person who likes to have their things in order, then, I’ve been impressed with the vast amount of storage that the Doblo offers, which allows everything to have a place and help me to stay organised and productive wherever I find myself working. And given my job, those places can be as diverse as the spices in my spice rack.
