New MG4 EV vs used Hyundai Ioniq 5: verdict

As a new car, the incredibly well priced MG 4 is one of our favourite electric models, but would you be better off buying a used example of the plusher Hyundai Ioniq 5 for similar money?...

New MG 4 EV vs used Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV

Our verdict

Anyone who test drives an MG4 assuming it will merely be 'good for the money' is in for a pleasant surprise. In reality, it's a strong all-rounder, and the better handling car in this test by a considerable margin.

Despite this, though, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 takes a narrow victory, thanks to its superior practicality, comfort, quality and range.

Just bear in mind that the Long Range Trophy version of the MG4 tested here isn't our favourite; the entry-level SE car offers even better value for money.
