I bought a 64-plate VW Polo last September and have found that the car judders when pulling away in first gear and also when reversing.
The dealership has run some tests and says it can’t find a problem. Its mechanics checked for leaks and also made sure that everything is aligned.
I’ve got the car back and the problem is still there. What can I do?
What Car? says
Faults that don’t show up during workshop tests can cause headaches for owners and dealers alike, but there are a few things you can do to try to get to the bottom of this problem.
Ask the dealership if they would come out for a test drive with you in your car so that you can show them the fault out on the road. From what you say we would focus their attention on the clutch.
If they can’t detect a problem, it could be worth booking your car in at another dealer to see if they find anything.
You might also consider getting an independent inspection of your car.
Finally, we’d ask VW’s customer services department how they’re going to resolve the issue, considering the Polo is still under warranty.
