Urgent recall of Vauxhall Adam and Corsa now includes cars from February 2014

Vauxhall has expanded its urgent recall of Corsa and Adam models to include cars registered from February 2014 onwards.

The recall is to fix a problem with the steering. Adam, Corsa and Corsavan models could all be affected.

Vauxhall is urging owners not to drive their cars until the steering system has been inspected.

Owners will be able to log on to www.vauxhall.co.uk and click on the 'Safety check for Adam and Corsa' button to find out whether their car is affected or not. Alternatively, they will be able to call 0800 026 0034 between 0900 and 1900 Monday to Friday, and 0900 to 1700 at the weekend. Vauxhall has also said that customers can contact the AA for help, on 0800 553388 between 0700 and midnight, seven days a week.

The AA will guide owners through the process of checking the production code on the steering shaft, or send out a patrol vehicle to do the check if preferred. If the car is not one of those affected, it will be cleared to drive. If it is not, the AA will take it to a Vauxhall dealer and arrange a replacement vehicle.

Vauxhall identified the issue during routine testing, and said that no incidents had taken place as a result of the fault. The cars in question were manufactured with a part that does not meet Vauxhall's specification.
