Used test: Audi A5 Cabriolet vs BMW 4 Series Convertible: verdict

Put a smile back on your face with these two premium convertibles, both now available used for a fraction of their new price. But which to buy? We have the answer.....

Audi A5 Cabriolet vs BMW 4 Series Convertible

Our Verdict

Two great cars at very agreeable prices when bought at this age. The BMW has more rear space and better running costs, but its heavy and cumbersome metal roof blunts performance, handling and boot space. Together with its coarse petrol engine, the 4 Series unfortunately feels its age.

The Audi isn’t without fault; it’s a fraction more expensive to buy and own, and it offers slightly less room for rear passengers. However, its interior quality is superb, it has more equipment and its boot is bigger and more practical. Having a fabric roof also keeps weight down without letting in any more wind and road noise. All things considered, the A5 ticks more boxes for the open-top buyer and deserves the win.
