Used test: Audi Q7 vs Lexus RX: verdict

Buy used and you can have either of these luxury SUVs for around half what they cost new, but should you choose the seven-seat Audi Q7 or the hybrid Lexus RX?...

Used test Audi Q7 vs Lexus RX

Our verdict

The petrol-electric hybrid set-up of the Lexus RX yields some noteworthy advantages, including low tax costs, good fuel economy and a relatively low CO2 output. The RX also works as a dependable workhorse, with the Lexus brand having a second-to-none record for reliability.

But these are luxury SUVs, remember, and (while all of the above is important) what matters most is how they pamper you. Put simply, the Audi Q7 does luxury better. Its interior is more cosseting, and so is its driving experience, helping it feel like the more polished product. Add to that far superior practicality and the Q7 comes out on top.
