What should I look for in a used Nissan Qashqai hatchback?
When viewing a used car, always follow our used car buying checklist.
The Qashqai is popular with families, so it’s important to check the interior for signs of wear and tear. All the interior electronics should be working effectively, too. On the outside, check the bodywork for scuffs and dents and the alloy wheels for kerbing. On your test drive, make sure there are no knocks or bangs from the suspension.

Used Nissan Qashqai reliability: the owners' view
In our reliability survey, owners said the latest Nissan Qashqai (2021–present) remains a dependable family choice, though it isn't entirely without its niggles. While the petrol and hybrid models have shown improved build quality over their predecessors, common faults often centre on the sophisticated electrical systems and the central infotainment screen.
Owners highlighted that software glitches can occasionally trigger phantom warning lights on the dashboard or cause the NissanConnect system to freeze. Fortunately, the dealer network generally receives praise for its helpfulness; many owners reported that these issues were resolved quickly with straightforward software updates under warranty.
However, some owners noted that more significant repairs, such as those involving the advanced e-Power hybrid system, can be expensive if the vehicle is outside its three-year warranty period. Overall, the consensus is that the Qashqai is a reliable companion, supported by a professional and capable dealership network that keeps repair downtime to a minimum.
