The Peugeot e-208 is smart inside and decent to drive but remains an expensive option in the small electric car class. Newer rivals such as the MG4 are more practical and better value. We'd recommend entry-level Active trim because it keeps the price respectable and comes with enough standard equipment.

Allure is the mid-level trim and adds the 10.0in configurable digital driver’s display, front parking sensors and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror to everything you get with entry-level Active.

While 98bhp doesn’t sound like all that much, this engine has more than enough power to get you up to speed quickly. What’s more, it can drive on electricity alone for short periods of time and at low speeds to increase efficiency. The only thing that lets it down is the standard-fit automatic gearbox, which can be sluggish when you pull off.
