The Peugeot 508 has a well-finished interior and comes with a decent amount of equipment as standard, but plenty of rivals are more practical and better to drive. We recommend the Allure trim and the entry-level engine – unless you're a company car driver, in which case one of the plug-in hybrid options will be more cost-effective.

This range-topping performance-focused version of the 508 gets 20in alloys and an upgraded sound system, but most of the upgrades are to do with the performance on offer. Still, it is far too expensive to recommend.

This range-topping version is a performance-focused plug-in hybrid with a whopping 355bhp and a 0-62mph time of just 5.2 seconds. The official electric range is 34 miles. So far we’ve only driven this model in the 508 SW estate version of this car. It's far too expensive to recommend.
