Vauxhall Astra 1.2 Turbo 130 Griffin [Tech Pack] 5dr Review

The model
Read full reviewWe like aspects of the Vauxhall Astra, such as its firm but well-controlled ride, admirable body control on twisty roads, solid-feeling interior, and efficient engines. However, it’s not the best-handling family car, or the most comfortable, and nor does it have the nicest interior. Where it claws back a lot of points, though, is on value for money. Yes, until the Astra’s non-hybrid engines return, cheaper versions of its key rivals are available. However, its price structure is such that the impressive plug-in hybrid version, which has the potential to save you plenty on petrol, costs less than many non-electrified rivals. Just stick with entry-level Griffin trim for the best value of all.
The trim
See full equipmentGriffin is our favourite trim. It's similarly priced to Design yet gains heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and other luxuries.
The engine
See full engine specsThis is the most powerful petrol engine, producing 128bhp and with a 0-60mph time of 9.7sec. Top speed is 130mph. As well as a six-speed manual, there's also an eight-speed automatic option with the same performance figures.
