Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake 2.0 TDI 200 4MOTION R-Line 5dr DSG Review
Category: Executive car
Section: Version review

The Arteon Shooting Brake offers a stylish alternative to the VW Passat Estate, without losing very much at all in the way of practicality. It's really practical, well equipped, has a pleasant interior and a decent range of engines, including the company car tax-saving plug-in hybrid. It is a bit pricey, though, and the resale values aren't great next to some of the competition, so do make sure you get a hefty discount.
The trim
See full equipmentWhere Elegance trim focuses on comfort, R-Line has a sportier edge to it. As such, you get all of the standard kit from the entry-level trim but add 19in alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, a panoramic sunroof and interior ambient lighting. Strangely, R-Line trim doesn’t come with a reversing camera, something that’s standard with Elegance trim.
The engine
See full engine specsThe range-topping diesel engine has a seven-speed automatic gearbox, four-wheel drive, 197bhp and hits 0-62mph in 7.9sec. Officially it averages over 50mpg.
