The Volkswagen Golf GTE’s broad spread of talents proves you really can have performance and efficiency in a single package. It does a good job of injecting a bit more fun for the driver over its main PHEV rivals and while it’s not going to deliver the hot hatch thrills of the Golf GTI, it’s solid balance of comfort and composure makes it a more polished option than the Cupra Leon e-Hybrid.
