If you’re after something that’s stylish, comfortable and practical, the Taigo could be a great option for you. It's not as capable or fun as the Ford Puma but that’s forgivable given the superb ride, generous rear passenger space and the fact that you get plenty of toys with even the entry-level version.

Despite being the entry-level trim, Life comes with a generous amount of equipment including 16in alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, an 8in digital driving display, a touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone mirroring, wireless phone-charging and a leather steering wheel.

We’ve yet to try the entry-level petrol engine but suspect it could be slightly underpowered because it gives you just 94bhp to play with and takes 11.1sec to get from 0-62mph. You only have the option of a five-speed manual transmission with the entry-level engine.
