The model
Read full Volvo V90 reviewThe Volvo V90 is a practical and classy choice that rides and handles well if you specify it with the optional adaptive dampers and avoid massive alloy wheels. It isn't that cheap to buy and it suffers quite heavy depreciation, which are two reasons we rate the BMW 5 Series Touring more highly, but the V90 is definitely worth a look if you can bag yourself a great deal.
The trim
See full equipmentThe entry-level trim includes heated electrically adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, adaptive cruise control, four-zone climate control, power-folding mirrors, a heated windscreen, a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, 19in alloy wheels and keyless entry.
The engine
See full engine specsThis is the only diesel. It's RDE2 compliant and officially averages 50mpg. While its acceleration won’t exactly squash you back in your seat (0-62mph takes 8.5sec), it has more than enough mid-rev oomph for easygoing progress.
