    My car

I have now owned this car from new for the past six months.

I test-drove the 1.8 225 and the 3.2 DSG before making a decision. I settled for the 3.2 manual because personally I found the DSG boring to drive and at times a little over confused as to which gear it wanted to be in after I had played with the paddles.

I also found the 1.8 225 a bit snatchy through the transmission and best kept on the boil making the most of the turbo. I settled for the 3.2 manual as I found it is as happy to potter about in sixth as it is to be bouncing of the limiter in sixth! This is pure testimony to Audi engineering.

On the one occasion I have had to contact the dealership (not the cars fault - it was a scratched alloy), they were most helpful even offering me a replacement vehicle while my wheel was repaired. I would certainly still recommend this car even now it nears its sixth birthday.

    My car

The joys of driving the car are marred only by the running costs (as other reviewers have noted). The second major service (36,000 miles) cost me £385, and there was no additonal work required.

The repeated failure of 'coil units' has also been a running sore in the ownership experience - particularly now the car's out of warranty. It's not the cost of replacement which bugs me (which is free), but the inconvenience of getting it fixed and knowing there's a risk of other failures from the remaining units.

Dealership customer service standards leave a lot to be desired, and have seriously coloured my enjoyment of the car.

The car itself is total quality. It's practical for a two-person family, and drives particularly well at motorway 'cruising speed'. The interior quality makes it hard to find a replacement which equals its feel.

    My car

Great compromise between a performance car and everyday use, assuming only two seats required. Luggage space is good, enough for two golf bags with the rear seats stowed.

The ride is quite harsh, especially around town, and would opt for the 17" wheels/tyres for the best compromise, although care is required to avoid rim damage.

Handling is very secure, and steering feel good - better than most Audis.

Interior is beautifully detailed, and I never tire of the looks, interior or exterior.

Economy is fantastic given the performance level. I regularly return 35mpg. Oil is consumed at circa 8000 mp litre.

My car was 3 years old when purchased, and it looks and drives like new. I have experienced minor electircal problems with the door windows, but more dealer problems than build quality.

Overall I am very satisfied with my TT.
