    My car

I have had a nightmare with a new Disco 3. Far too many problems to list here.

    My car

My manual TDV6 in S trim is now just over a year old – this is a great vehicle and lives up to all its pre-launch reviews. Its capability and flexibility has proven itself to me, from transporting half-a-dozen scouts each week to a dozen six-foot trestle tables as needed.

From motorway cruising to the narrow twists and turns of rural west Berkshire roads, the handling has been precise and predictable - even nimble, considering the size and weight of the Discovery. Body roll is well controlled, unless you really are aggressive into the corners!

With 15,000 miles on the clock, the engine is still loosening up, but 28mpg is the norm for everyday motoring, and over 30mpg on the open road.

The Discovery 3 is not without its problems – mine has not let me down so far. The few problems I have experienced are: audio head unit replaced; rear park sensor control unit replaced; rear wiper motor replaced; parking brake warning light has come on once but never again; suspension system warning light has come on once but never again; rear brakes squeal when pulling away; the rain sensor wipers perform erratically.

These are minor niggles from my point of view compared to the overall experience of the vehicle. The Land Rover dealer I use even seems to be getting a little more sympathetic to me! Some folk are suggesting the new Audi Q7 will be better than the Discovery 3 – I've just priced one up. At £7,000 more for the same specification, I would need a lot of convincing.

    My car

I was more than pleased when my dealer gave me a test drive in the new Disco 3.

I found the drive amazingly quiet and comfortable, good vision, lovely brakes and outstanding looks. I plan to purchase one next year.

    My car

I have just traded my BMW X5d for this car.

Wow, I cannot believe how good it is. I have driven all the premium 4x4s extensively and this car is leagues apart.

The ride is so much better than the X5 and the Range Rover, especially for the rear seat passengers. I have a friend who is trading his Cayenne for one. If they have made this improvement with the Disco, I cannot wait to see what they do with the Range Rover.

My only criticism is the plastic dashboard, but the new sat nav totally makes up for it. Oh and one other criticism is that it is a bit of a Popemobile!
