Reliability and quality is a big let-down for the price you have to pay for this car. I had problems with suspension, air-conditioning, the turbo unit, electrics, and more. It was not up to my expectations. I had enough - I sold it and bought a Japanese make instead.
This is the worst quality car I have ever owned. I have now sold it thankfully due to the woeful build quality, and even worse performance from the so called 'trained' main dealers. I see I am not the only one who had had problems. The ONLY bit that didnt fail was the actual engine (BMW), everything else seems to have been built in china but covered in gold (so to speak). Paint, transmission, navigation/electronic problems, boot not closing properly, vibrations through steering wheel bits of plastic falling off inside.....
Running costs would be fine if all you had to do was fuel and service it - its eveything else that makes it so poor.
The car looks great - inside and out, but I am afraid if solihull continue to build rubbish like this then they will lose more customers like me, and hopefully they will wake up and listen and design in quality.
Have owned the car for the past 15 months and have found it fairly reliable except for clonking noises in the suspension that were sorted out under warranty. Very comfortable long distance cruiser/ familly car. Just trading it for the new TDV8
I have a 2003 Range Rover TD6 Vogue, and the car has been a nightmare.
It has covered only 31,000 miles, and in that time has had transmission failure three times (including one replacement transmission), a new turbo, two new vehicle management ECMs, replacement front driveshafts (it was giving heavy vibration through the steering) and every time the external temperature drops below +3 degrees celcius, the onboard display fails to boot up (so no audio, telephone, or cabin pre-heat).
Land Rover has been totally useless at helping the dealer resolve the issues - either directly or when I have contacted them direct. I bought the car to use when I am in Switzerland - it has been rescued from the mountains four times and I now have no confidence in the vehicle - it was obviously designed for Solihull or London where it is warm and flat.
