    My car

I love the distinctive looks, mine is in black, with the styling kit, and debadged.

I much prefer the Lexus to BMWs and it is good to be distinctive, albeit in a gangster car.

It is running on 18 inch tyres, which are not the best around town. But on A roads and motorways the ride is very good. Quality is excellent, apart from the old-fashioned fascia inside, and no seat lumber support. Gearbox is very smooth.

    Dealers are superb.

It drinks the juice unfortunately if you use the sport button too much.

I had a BMW 525 for two weeks, and could not wait to get rid of it, back to my lovely Lexus.

    My car

I owned the car as a 51 reg for a total of 2 years. In that period of time I drove over 48,500 miles.

The only problems I incurred were a faulty CD changer and a key that fell to bits in my hand.

Both of which were replaced under warrenty. I found immense pleasure in owning and driving it. It was very comfortable, reliable, quiet, safe, extremely powerful and had a brilliant sound system.

Due to finiancial problems I reluctantly had to give it up, however a year on I still miss it very much

    My car

I looked at many of the cars in this class but found this to be the best all-rounder. The car looks good, sounds good drives very well with supurb comfort.

The dealer we bought it from was the most friendly dealership we went to and gave you time and choices. This was a world apart from the BMW garage, who told us how busy he was and would try to fit us in, not a great first imprssion!

Back to the Lexus though the equipment, drive, ride and service I dont think can be matched by anyone else at this price band as every thing is standard.

The only thing I would say is that the car would be unbeatable totally if it was slightly quicker off the mark. But if they changed the staight six for a V6, it would not sound as gruff. And once it is going, it is very fast with superb handling - very fun to drive.

As I was buying the car as my own family car, I went for the build quality and standard of equipment you get on this model.

I would recommend this model car for any one without a dog but wants to have quality fun at the right price.

    My car

Probably the best car I have ever owned - I have a 2001 SE automatic with 43k miles. It's certainly brilliant value when you compare the standard specification with that of the opposition - ie BMW and Mercedes, both of which would cost considerably more to equip to a comparable standard.

Servicing costs are high, though, and I have had to replace tyres fairly frequently. However, as supported by the findings in the JDPower survey, my car has been supremely reliable. I have used it on three long journeys to France and have always felt certain it would never let me down - which it hasn't!

The only other drawback for most people would be the compact dimensions, especially the boot, although I have never had problems with family holiday luggage, and I regularly get two sets of golf clubs in.

Overall the Lexus IS200 is a thoroughly excellent car and one which I would recommend without any hesitation!
