    My car

I would love to say I love this car and most of the time I do. It's good fun, it's fast, it looks great, it's comfy and with the top down it turns heads. So why don't I love it. I brought this one from new in 2006 after owning my previous one for 5 problem free years. Unfortunatley this one has not been the same. It's had no major problems but the ones it has had have been long winded in correcting. Leaking roof which took 5 times back to the dealership to find, resulting in a new roof. Annoying rattle from the centre console just behind yur left ear, 7 times in the garage but still rattling. Knocking from the front brakes, turned out to be a known fault with the brake mounting, after a lot of fighting Mazda they finally decided to pay for the repair. After only doing 21K I now don't know whether to cut my losses and sell but nothing else out there looks as much fun.

    My car

I purchased a 2nd hand MX5 2 litre at the end of last year. I have done nearly 700 miles in it and I have to see that I pretty much agree with most people on here, it really is a fantastic car to drive. The handling is right up there with my old Mini Cooper and that is about the highest praise that I can give any car! It is great to have rear wheel drive although I have to admit in the current icy conditions you do need a bit of caution. The backend has come out a few times on roundabouts but fortunately the DSC system has always saved the day! I have been doing a bit of motorway work in the last few days and it copes really well with not too much noise. The build quality is good and the heater works very well. The only slight disappointment has been the petrol consumption, I am only getting about 32mpg which is not great for motorway work. I am actually quite impressed with the storage space for a 2 sitter; you can easily get one good sized suitcase in the boot. The dealer assures me that he got 10 bags of shopping in the car on one occasion! If you are prepared to ignore all the gloom in the media this really is the time to buy cars like this. I got a fantastic deal from the dealer in Swindon at well below book price without even trying.

    My car

It's actually the 2.0 litre Niseko that my wife owns (1.8 not available to select!). My wife absolutely loves this car and when I can get my hands on it so do I!

The road holding is fantastic (an improvement on her last model), and it hugs the road, although to be fair it can be a little bit scary in the wet, but hey that's part of the fun of having this type of car.

The cabin is perfect from the layout, the heated seats and the quality sound system. The hard top drop down is fantastic and can be up and down in a matter of seconds.

If you are considering other rival models such as the MR2, then don't, this is simply a fantastic car.

    My car

Having had the benefit of all the helpful MX-5 reviews, we took a test drive with the roof down one sunny afternoon and were so impressed that we just had to have one.

Our personal preference was for standard suspension and a 5-speed gearbox and we included the climate control and with heated leather seats, which has proved to be very worth while option.

We have now had this car for 17 months with no problems todate. The quality is good and fuel consumption is OK if you are not in a hurry! We find the car comfortable over long distances for both driver and passenger - All this and it looks great too!!

If you are ready for something different go and try one!!
