Im just about to trade my 2000 W reg Scenic after 5 years of happy(ish) ownership. This car has served my purpose of workhorse/family taxi superbly. The drive is nothing startling but it gets you where you want to reliably and comfortably. It comes fairly well loaded with AirCon, Two Elec Sunroofs, Central Locking etc, storage can be found all over the place, too much perhaps!!! She has been ultra reliable, one coil, one exhaust, brakes in 7 years, cant really complain, little niggles are now arriving with age though. One thing I would mention is depreciation, its horrific, after 7 years a £17 grand car is worth £800!!!
We set out looking for a practical but compact family car. After reviewing many cars including cost this one came out the best.
In the 5 years we owned the car the ignition coil had to be replaced twice. The first time it was 11 months old.
The car has lots of gadgets and bags of storage places. So many you can almost forget where you have put something.
After owning the car for 5 years (the longest I have kept any car) I felt it was time for a change as we had started to have a few niggles.
I am now on my second Scenic an 06 plate and will write a separate review for that.
Hi,I live in spain,so mine's a metallic greeny-brown diesel-and that means 60 mpg.on average-I always get 1000 km./600mi on a full tank!Comfortable seats easily taken out for camping!Handling and ride fine-firm,no roll but shock damping could be quieter(thinking of UK road surfaces).Engine and air-conditioning are also fine and nothing's gone wrong after 100,000 miles except the heating fan control 'cos water got into the system-maybe it's the windscreen seal?Overall-¡estoy muy contento!
I have owned this car for 3 years having bought it with 13000 miles on the clock. It appealled because we have three young children and it seemed aimed at families. It turned out to be an expensive mistake, not at all aimed at the family budget! Breakdowns came completely out of the blue leaving my wife and kids stranded with alarming regularity. Repair costs were high - very few independent garages would touch it, so it was always back to Renault. When I wrote to Renault asking them to comment they suggested buying another car! I have - this time a Honda!
