What should I look for in a used Audi Q7?
Generally, the Audi Q7 is proving to be reliable, with only one or two common issues. This huge SUV has a reputation for getting through a set of front tyres in under 7000 miles and in some cases as little as 5000 miles.
In most cases, the outside edges wear substantially faster than any other area. The exact cause isn't clear, and Audi has been known to contribute to the cost of replacement rubber on newer cars.
Keeping a close eye on tyre pressures appears to be a key factor in minimising wear, along with ensuring the tracking is checked on a regular basis.
Other small electrical and engine faults have cropped up, but nothing consistent. A recall was issued in 2007 to cover a fault with the electrically powered tailgate.
As is the case with any off-roader, no matter how soft, you should always check the underside of the car for any damage.
Is a used Audi Q7 reliable?
This earlier version of the Q7 didn't feature in our 2023 What Car? Reliability Survey, but the second-generation version did.
Our latest reliability data shows the Q7 to be a dependable used car; it received a rating of 92.8% and finished second in the luxury SUV class out of a field of nine cars.
Audi, as a brand, came 26th out of 32 manufacturers in the same survey, which isn't especially good.
