As with any used car, it's important to inspect the bodywork and wheels for any signs of damage. Inside, check that all the electrics are functioning properly and look for any damage to the interior trim and upholstery. Don't forget to take the car for a test drive – pay close attention to any unusual noises, such as bangs or knocks from the suspension.

On affected vehicles under certain conditions due to an increased loading on the wiper arm it may result in the loss of movement of the wipers.

The i7 is too new to have featured in the What Car? Reliability Survey, and because it’s built on the same underpinnings as the similarly new 7 Series, we can’t give you a steer on reliability for that car, either.
What we can tell you is that BMW finished in eighth place out of 31 brands in our car manufacturer reliability league table. That’s below Lexus (second), but better than Mercedes (22nd), Audi (24th) and Land Rover (27th).
