Used Kia EV3 2025-present reliability
Category: Electric SUV
The Kia EV3 is a very capable small electric SUV, with a long range, competitive pricing and good reliability record. It’s a great used buy

What should I look for in a used Kia EV3 estate?
When viewing a used car, always follow our used car buying checklist.
Start with the exterior. Look closely for any signs of accident damage, poor panel alignment or mismatched paint. The Kia EV3 has an angular design, which means complex bumper and lighting areas should be checked carefully for cracks, condensation or poor fit. Inspect the alloy wheels for kerbing and check the tyres for even wear, because uneven tread can point to alignment or suspension issues.
Inside, check for signs of excessive wear on seat bolsters, steering wheel, door trims and other high-touch surfaces. The EV3 uses modern materials and a largely digital layout, so also make sure trim pieces feel secure and well fitted. Test switches, storage areas and controls to ensure everything operates cleanly and without looseness.
Given the car’s reliance on software, thoroughly test the electrics. The infotainment system should start quickly and run smoothly without lag or glitches. Check navigation, smartphone connectivity, climate control and digital displays, along with driver assistance systems like adaptive cruise control and lane keeping, which should all function correctly without warning messages.
On the test drive, the EV3 should feel quiet, smooth and composed. Listen for any rattles or suspension knocks over bumps and check the steering feels precise and consistent. Regenerative braking should be smooth and predictable, too. Finally, confirm the charging works properly if possible, including AC charging, and check the charging port for damage along with any available battery health or software update history.

What are the most common problems with a used Kia EV3 estate?
At the time of writing, the EV3 has one recall listed. To find out whether a car has been affected, you can contact your local Kia dealer. You will not need to pay for anything involving the recall.
Reason for recall
The instrument cluster screen may respond slowly immediately after starting the vehicle. During this condition, activating the indicator can cause the cluster to reset or the Blind View Monitor (BVM) within the cluster to turn green. The malfunction is caused by noise-induced falsely high temperature sensor readings, which trigger the chip protection logic above a certain threshold and lead to performance limitation, a reboot or black screen.
How the manufacturer will repair: Over-the-air (OTA) software update or dealer software update.
Number of affected vehicles: 4516
Date of recall: 24/04/2026

Out of its rivals, only the Hyundai Kona Electric, Mercedes EQA and Renault Scenic came close to it, finishing in ninth, eighth and second places respectively in the class.
