This 2.0-litre diesel with 197bhp offers a useful amount of extra power over the D165 and covers 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds, plus an impressive 2,500kg towing capacity.

This plug-in hybrid gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine plus an electric motor and is the quickest version, with 0-62mph in 7.4 seconds. The official electric-only range is up to 39 miles.

This range-topping trim gets goodies such as 20in wheels, heated and cooled front seats and matrix LED headlights, but it pushes the price up a lot and is difficult to recommend as a result.

Dynamic HSE

Opting for mid-spec Dynamic SE trim is worth it if you can, because it adds some useful extras over the entry-level trim like a 12-speaker Meridian sound system, a powered tailgate, a panoramic roof and keyless entry.
