Euro NCAP awarded the MX-30 a maximum five-star rating, with an impressive score for protecting adult occupants. Its automatic emergency braking (AEB) system didn’t do well at detecting and avoiding pedestrians and cyclists, though.
You get a lot of active safety kit to prevent a bump, including blind-spot monitoring, a driver attention alert system, lane-keeping assistance and rear cross-traffic assistance, which applies the brakes if you’re reversing out of your drive and about to enter the path of a car.

Is a used Mazda MX-30 hatchback reliable?
The MX-30 didn't feature in our most recent 2025 What Car? Reliability Survey. However, reliability reports from owners seem largely positive. There have been one or two issues reported with the range-extender versions, however. Check that recalls have been carried out with your local dealer.
As a brand, Mazda managed an impressive result, finishing in 15th place out of 30 manufacturers with a good overall score of 93.0%. This placed it below Honda, Suzuki and Toyota, but above Ford, Renault and Volkswagen.
