2015 Suzuki Celerio - specs, engines, prices and on-sale date
Suzuki Celerio city car priced from £7999; on sale February...
The new Suzuki Celerio will go on sale in the UK in February 2015, with prices starting at £7999.
What is it?
The Celerio is Suzuki's new city car, which will ultimately replace both the Alto and Splash in the company's range.
It is planned to be offered as a global car in many markets, and was originally revealed at the Dehli motor show, before it made its European debut at the Geneva motor show in February 2014.
At 360cm long, and 160cm wide, it is marginally longer than the VW Up/Seat Mii/Skoda Citigo trio, but slightly narrower. It has a slightly larger boot, too, at 254 litres to the Up's 251 litres.
It comes with five doors as standard, and Suzuki says that there is sufficient room in the cabin for five occupants.
What engines can I choose from?
Suzuki has not revealed full engine details for the new Celerio, but it will come with a three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol unit. To start with, it will offer emissions of 99g/km and averages 65.7mpg, although the engine will be updated and equipped with stop/start technology in summer 2015 to drop these emissions to 84g/km.
Suzuki is not expected to offer any larger engines, or a diesel, in Europe.
From summer 2015, Suzuki will also offer an automatic gearbox option.
How much equipment does it come with?
The Suzuki Celerio has just two trim levels: SZ3 and SZ4. Despite a relatively low price, both come with a generous equipment list. The entry-level SZ3 comes with air-con, front electric windows, alloy wheels, DAB digital radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity as standard.
The SZ4 adds rear electric windows, front foglights, body-coloured door mirrors and a chrome front grille.
How much will it cost?
The SZ3 model costs £7999, while the SZ4 starts at £8999. Pricing for the forthcoming automatic model will be revealed closer to its launch next year.
Can I get a discount?
Discounts are trickier to come by on smaller cars, although there were four-figure Target Price savings on the outgoing Alto, and similar savings on the Swift hatchback, so it is possible that deals will be available on the Celerio, too.
