Car of the Year Awards 2023: Best plug-in hybrid executive car
A top-notch executive car must do it all – frugally and in style. Buyers want effortless long-haul capability, a comfortable and classy interior, and low benefit-in-kind tax rates...
Mercedes C-Class C300e AMG Line
The C300e has a bigger battery than most rivals, and its official electric range of 69 miles will enable many to tackle daily commutes without using a drop of petrol.
Also, despite the extra weight of its battery, the C300e is barely any less agile than the regular C-Class; its standard rear air suspension helps with body control in fast corners. It isn’t as much fun as the BMW 3 Series 330e, but then it is more comfortable over urban bumps and potholes.
While the C300e looks glitzy inside, key executive rivals beat it for quality. However, company car users will forgive it for the money it’ll save them; that long electric range means an 8% BIK tax bracket, compared with the 330e’s 12%.
