The Hyundai Tucson is the replacement for the ix35. It’s only just gone on sale but there are already some decent deals to be had.

For

The Tucson has plenty of room front and rear and a large boot making it a very capable family car.

The 1.7-litre diesel engine isn’t massively fast but it is efficient. Its official fuel economy figure is an impressive 61.7mpg while it emits 119g/km of CO2. These are significant improvements on the outgoing ix35.

It’s a great-looking SUV that’s better-equipped than most rivals. It also comes with Hyundai’s five-year/unlimited-mileage warranty.

Against

Overall, there’s very little to complain about. The Tucson isn’t quite as enjoyable to drive as some rivals and some of the interior plastics are hard and unattractive, but that’s about it.

Should I add any options?

SE Nav trim comes with heated seats, dual-zone climate control, electrically heated and folding mirrors, cruise control, parking sensors, a reversing camera and an 8.0-inch media and navigation system. The only option to add is metallic paint at Β£585.
