Deal of the Day: Lease an MG4 EV from £191 per month
The MG4 is a great value electric car, and you could save even more on one with our leasing deals...

A few years ago, it was almost impossible to see the words “electric car” and “cheap” in the same sentence, but there are some models that are trying to break the stigma – and the MG4 EV is one of them.
Indeed, with its competitive range, decent charging speeds and spacious interior, you might be surprised to find that the MG4 is cheaper than a lot of petrol or hybrid equivalents – in fact, it’s so good, we named it our favourite small electric car in our 2024 What Car? Awards. And, thanks to our deals, you could get one for as little as £191 per month.
To do that, you’ll need to opt for a 24-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £2288.16. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.
If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£1444.80), which will cost £240.80 per month.

You can have your MG4 with one of three battery options. The first option is a 50.8kWh (usable capacity) battery, which can officially manage 218 miles on a single charge. There’s also a larger 77kWh unit powering the Extended Range version, which can officially travel 323 miles.
However, our Deal of the Day comes with the mid-size 61.7kWh Long Range battery. It gets a punchier 201bhp electric motor driving the rear wheels and an official range of 281 miles. That’s on par with the significantly more expensive Cupra Born 59kWh and Renault Megane E-Tech.
Due to its larger battery, the Long Range does take slightly longer to get to 62mph than the entry-level option (7.9sec versus 7.7sec), but it’s quick to whisk you up to motorway speeds and should have enough punch for most drivers.

The MG4 beats most of its budget rivals on ride, including the Citroën ë-C3 and BYD Dolphin. It’s comfortable and absorbs larger impacts nicely, though more expensive rivals like the Born and Megane E-Tech are more composed (as you might expect).
Our Deal of the Day comes kitted out in top-spec Trophy trim, which means you get six-way adjustability for the driver’s seat as standard. You also get a 7.0in driver’s display behind the steering wheel, a 10.25in infotainment touchscreen and a host of driving aids including a rear-view camera and a 360-degree parking camera to offset the rather lacklustre visibility.
We find the infotainment system to be a bit fiddly, but luckily it comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity as standard, so you can use the sat-nav apps and play music from your phone instead of from MG’s system.
Despite its small electric car status, the MG4 is surprisingly practical. There’s plenty of room in the front for taller drivers and a hefty amount of storage space, including a cubby under the central armrest, a lidded compartment in the centre console and wireless charging for your phone underneath the infotainment touchscreen.
Trophy trim gets you an additional set of creature comforts, including styling flourishes, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
