Volkswagen T-Roc R options to choose and avoidImage 1 of 8

There's no better way of saying this: the Volkswagen T-Roc R is an absolute hoot to drive. Its 296bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine – derived from that of the Golf R hot hatchback – provides plenty of power, and when you add in the T-Roc's thrilling handling and compliant ride, the result is a thoroughly engaging package. That's partly why, at the most recent What Car? Awards, we named it as our favourite sports SUV in our lowest price point.

Our full 16-point review can tell you more about what makes the T-Roc R so special, including how practical it is and what it's like inside, but here we're focusing on equipment. The T-Roc R's standard kit list is already generous, with 19in alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control and adaptive cruise control all coming as standard. We think there's room to add more luxury, however, without breaking the bank, and below you'll find our suggestions.
