Infiniti says no to more Vettel editions

Infiniti does not plan to make any more high-performance cars bearing the name of F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel has been working with Infiniti as result of the company's financial involvement with the driver's F1 team, Red Bull, and the limited-edition, £100,800 Infiniti FX Vettel Edition was a result of this co-operation.

However, Infiniti president Johan de Nysschen told What Car? that this is likely to be the only car in the company's range to bear the young German's name.

'There will be many more performance cars in the future, inspired by our partnership with Red Bull Racing and with Sebastian, but I don't think that we will again call them the Sebastian Vettel Edition,' said de Nysschen.

Vettel will also have a say in the development of the upcoming Q30.

Sebastian's role in the development process is to come at certain key milestone points and evaluate what we have done, give us feedback,' added de Nysschen.

'He has a brilliant affinity for the smallest changes to vehicle set-up. That helps to give very clear feedback to the engineers. We either listen to the feedback or, if we can't, we explain why.'

The production version of the Infiniti Q30 is due to go on sale in 2015.
