Sometimes in life it’s good to switch things up, such as by changing your look or routine, and the same goes for cars – which is why the Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio and Grecale have received a mid-life overhaul, bringing new styling and additional power.

Chief among the changes is a new design language inspired by the track-only Maserati MCXtrema, featuring a more aggressive front end to make the cars look lower and wider. Indeed, the new styling brings the models in line with the MCPura supercar.

Inside, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio have been refurnished with new materials, including new metal gear selector switches and steering wheel paddles. Speaking of the steering wheel, this also gets a new racing-inspired design.

The 3.0-litre V6 engine that sits at the heart of Trofeo versions of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio produces an additional 40bhp compared with outgoing versions, bringing its total output to 582bhp. As standard, it comes with four-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension.

Both cars come with a new Country driving mode for uneven road surfaces, raising the ride height by 20mm.

The all-electric GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore produce the same amount of power as before, but they do receive boosts in range, up from 280 miles to 335 miles. This is thanks to a new energy management system. Still, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S is more efficient, with a range of up to 393 miles.

Meanwhile, the new Grecale receives a retuned variant of the V6 engine, producing up to 385bhp and slotting in between the 325bhp Modena version and range-topping 523bhp Trofeo.

Like the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore, the all-electric Grecale Folgore gets a boosted range of up to 360 miles – up from 310 miles on the outgoing model. That brings it closer to the 366 miles offered by the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric.

The new Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio and Grecale will go on sale later this year. Prices haven’t yet been revealed, but we’d expect them to start at slightly higher than current versions. That means the GranTurismo could start at around £125,000, while the Grecale could start at around £60,000.
