The upcoming Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet has been previewed with an official design sketch ahead of its planned debut at the Geneva motor show next month.
A short statement accompanying the sketch reveals that "for the first time in the history of this model series, there will be a C-Class Cabriolet."
The new model is expected to go on sale in the UK this summer, and is based on the recently launched C-Class Coupé. The Cabriolet will join the Coupé, Estate and saloon variants of the C-Class range.
While many of the car's features will be identical to those of the Coupé, the Cabriolet will receive a folding fabric roof, wind deflectors around the windscreen and a deployable wind break.
Power for the new model will come from the same engines as the rest of the C-Class range.
The line-up will include a sporty C450 model, while a plug-in hybrid version is also planned. A range-topping Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet, which is expected to feature a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 with around 503bhp, is expected to arrive before the end of 2016.
