Good things come in threes, so the saying goes. And in 2026 Alpine will push on with its ‘three-pillar’ strategy – and key to that will be an all-new Alpine A110 sports car.
Expected to use the same underpinnings as the radical Renault 5 Turbo 3E electric hot hatchback, the next-generation Alpine A110 will move to electric power only, in stark contrast to the petrol engine used in today's car. In that car, the formula of light weight and potent performance is a winning one, because we named the A110 as our Best Sports Car in 2019 and 2020.
To help split its considerable weight evenly, the new A110's batteries will be split into two packs, to be placed at the front and rear of the car respectively. In total, And while there's little technical detail beyond that, we do know that the setup will incorporate an 800v electrical system to allow ultra-fast charging, and an electric motor to drive the rear wheels. The power output of that motor is expected to surpass the 345bhp of the A110's 1.8-litre engine.
While the A110 will use a conventional electric motor in most versions, engineers are understood to be exploring offering at least one version with in-wheel motors, possibly using the same technology being utilised for the R5 Turbo – in that car, the in-wheel motors provide 533bhp, giving the car a 0-62mph sprint time of less than 3.5 seconds.

While the current A110 leans heavily on retro design cues inspired by the original coupé from the 1960, the new car will have a more forward-thinking design, more closely related to the Alpine A390, likely with a pointed nose, although it will be no taller than the current A110.
Inside, the new A110 will have a bespoke interior, rather than one that leans on features and technology borrowed from sister brand, Renault. But while the car will be all-electric, it will use analogue controls rather than digital ones, designed to boost driver engagement and reduce distractions. And in terms of driving position, officials have hinted that the new car will adopt a low-slung, F1-like position to focus on driver engagement.
The design of the final car remains under wraps for now, but it is understood the new car is in advanced stages of development. And while the current A110 is only available as a coupé, the new model is expected to branch out to be offered as a convertible as well.
Indeed, as well as a convertible, Alpine is understood to be exploring a four-door version which could take the A310 name when it goes into production.
As for the price, the next-generation Alpine A110 is expected to cost from around £65,000, which in the context of an electric sports car is still something of a bargain.
