You can think of the Range Rover SV as like having VIP tickets to a concert; you get the best seat in the house to enjoy the music in luxury. So, the Range Rover SV Black is like having all of that, with an additional goodie bag and meet and greet on top.

Indeed, the new Range Rover SV Black is the most luxurious version of the range-topping SV edition of Land Rover’s popular SUV. It will be offered alongside the current Serenity and Intrepid themes but, like the recently-revealed Range Rover Sport SV Black, it’ll adopt an all-black colour scheme, with a gloss black front grille, as well as all-black 23in alloy wheels, brake callipers and badging.

Inside, the seats are furnished with Ebony leather and black birch wood details, with black trim on the gearstick and throughout the interior.

The Range Rover SV Black will be available exclusively with Range Rover’s V8 petrol engine, which pumps out a hefty 607bhp. However, that does mean that you can’t specify your SV Black with plug-in hybrid power – you’ll have to opt for either the Serenity or Intrepid version for that.

Each SV model will also now receive Range Rover’s ‘Body and Soul Seats’ and Sensory Floor, which allows for a more immersive experience when listening to music. The seats and the floor work with the sound system to pulsate in time with the beat of whatever song you’re playing. You can also programme the Sensory Floor with six different modes, which Range Rover says are intended to calm and soothe passengers. To benefit from that, you’ll have to opt for a long-wheelbase version.

The Range Rover SV Black will arrive later this year. Prices will start at £188,025 for short-wheelbase versions – compared with £161,865 for non-Black models – and £204,925 for long-wheelbase versions.
