Our cars: Fiat 500L video review

The Fiat 500L is the latest car to join the What Car? long-term test fleet, and deputy production editor Mel Falconer is running this stylish MPV for the next year.

Fiat hopes the 500L will appeal to buyers as a practical alternative to the likes of the Citroen C3 Picasso and Mini Countryman. It offers 400 litres of space with the seats up and 1300 with them down. The rear seats also slide and tumble forward.

Standard equipment across the range includes Bluetooth, cruise control and an adjustable boot floor. We picked mid-level Pop Star trim that adds air-conditioning and a touch-screen infotainment system.

There are three engines on offer: two petrols and one diesel. We've gone for the 1.6-litre Multijet diesel, as our road testers reckon there's not much difference between this and the two-cylinder Twinair petrol in terms of refinement.

See what Mel thinks of the Fiat 500L so far, by watching her video verdict above.
