Slough is the UK's number one car accident hotspot, according to data from insurance company Endsleigh.

Motorists in the Berkshire town make 49% more accident-related insurance claims than the national average. Ilford in east London is the second most risky place, generating 44% more claims than the UK average.

Other towns and cities with a high frequency of accidents include:

Birmingham 33% more claims than average
Bradford 28% more
London 24% more
Burnley 20% more
Plymouth 17% more
Stockport 14% more
Manchester 13% more
Milton Keynes 12% more

Towns with the lowest frequency of accidents are:

Belfast 44% below the national average
Swansea 27% below
Aberdeen 23% below
Cambridge 22% below
Cheltenham 16% below
Chester 13% below
Glasgow 12% below
York and Ipswich 11.5% below
