Used test: Ford Fiesta ST vs Vauxhall Corsa VXR verdict

The Fiesta ST was our recommended buy when new, but Vauxhall's Corsa VXR has more power and is a cheaper used option. So, which should you choose now?...

Used test: Ford Fiesta ST vs Vauxhall Corsa VXR

Our verdict

Affordable performance is and will forever be captivating for enthusiastic drivers, so the Vauxhall Corsa VXR's appeal is far from an enigma. It offers a gusty engine and aggressive styling for little money – initially, at least. Unfortunately, the VXR is costly to run for a small hot hatch and this somewhat cancels out the positives of its lower price.

So, if the VXR doesn't comprehensively win on value, should you spend the extra money on buying the Ford Fiesta ST? Let's not beat around the bush: the answer is yes. It's the more polished, sharp and fun car to drive – to a clear degree as well. As a hot hatch package, it's a class act and one that's tough to beat. It hasn't been dethroned today.
