Our verdict

While both of our contenders are available for a lot less if you go for one of the cheaper trims, if it’s bells and whistles you’re after, these top-spec versions have plenty going for them.

Of the two, though, it's the Hyundai Santa Fe that we'd spend our money on, because it's an excellent all-rounder, and by far the more practical option. Yes, it will cost you more than the Peugeot 5008 but the price gap is much smaller than it was when the cars were new.
