VW Golf SV prices start at 18,875
* Replacement for Golf Plus is more spacious * Seven engines; same trim grades at hatchback * Available to order now; deliveries from late July...

The Volkswagen Golf SV is now available to order, with prices starting at £18,875.
VW’s replacement for the Golf Plus is 8cm longer, 8cm wider and 13cm taller than the Golf hatchback. Cabin space has increased, and the SV offers practical touches such as sliding rear seats and a front passenger seat that folds flat.
Petrol engines on offer include a 1.2-litre petrol with either 84bhp or 108bhp, and a 1.4 with 123bhp or 148bhp. The diesel line-up is a 1.6 with either 89bhp or 108bhp, plus a 148bhp 2.0-litre. A DSG automatic gearbox is available on every engine bar the 83bhp petrol and 89bhp diesel. The Bluemotion model uses the 1.6 diesel with a six-speed manual gearbox - it’s expected to have CO2 emissions of 95g/km.
As in the Golf hatchback, the suspension you get depends on the engine you choose. The 1.2 petrol and 1.6 diesel cars get a less sophisticated set-up than the more powerful 1.4 petrol and 2.0 diesel models.
For £18,875 you get you the 83bhp 1.2 TSI model in entry-level S trim. All versions of the SV have seven airbags, a colour touch-screen, Bluetooth, DAB digital radio, air-conditioning and a post-collision braking system. A space-saver spare tyre is standard on all but the Bluemotion model.
SE-trimmed cars start at £21,580 for the 123bhp 1.4 TSI model. The specification includes adaptive cruise control with City Emergency Braking, alloy wheels, automatic lights and wipers, a leather-trimmed gearknob, drawers under the front seats and air vents for the rear passengers.
The range-topping GT trim adds larger alloys, sat-nav, part-Alcantara upholstery, front and rear parking sensors, stiffer suspension and tinted rear windows. The top spec cars start at £24,895 for the 148bhp 1.4 TSI GT.
You can place your order for the new VW Golf SV at a dealer now. The first customer deliveries are expected in late July.
